Idaho Post 154 "steps up" for its members

Rathdrum, ID

During this time when our country is dealing with the COVID-19 virus, American Legion Post 154 in Rathdrum recently implemented its "Buddy Check" program. First, Vice Commander Bill Kinder and Chaplain Helen Kinder called all 135 of our post members to inquire how there were doing, and if they needed anything. Almost all of our members contacted expressed appreciation for the check and for the Legion's concern.

One 86-year-old Legion member told us that he had recently lost his wife, and was having difficulty getting out to the grocery store. The post arranged to pick up his shopping list and do his shopping, delivering his groceries to his home. They did this for several weeks. Additionally, our Legion has offered this service for both groceries and medication to other members, and provided rides to medical appointments as needed.

This is the time for all of us to pull together and to serve our fellow Legionnaires and veterans in our community as we deal with this health crisis.
