Heroes All Around Me

I’m 71 years old, retired now and living in Mesa, Ariz. I am a member of an organization of Vietnam heroes
As a retired person I was looking for something interesting to do. I became a docent (tour guide) for the CAF Air Museum where they featured a Huey helicopter from the Vietnam War. I was in the Navy during the Vietnam War, so this Huey was special to me. I met another docent. who turned out to be the original founder of the Arizona Sky Soldiers in 2015. He asked me to join and I did.
The first time I was at an event it was at ASU Gammage Theatre in Phoenix. "Miss Saigon" was playing so we were offered to display a Vietnam helicopter and tell people about the history of this Huey in Vietnam.
We love showing off on static and flyable helicopters of our time. For many it’s like meeting old friends. Some people acquire closure when they talk about Hueys and Cobras.
Our idea is to unite those who lived through Vietnam. The BEST place I could do this is The American Legion.
We would like to offer a visit from the AAHF Army Aviation Heritage Foundation. Depending on room, we can visit with a HUEY COBRA and LOACH 06 on trailers.
Our Southwest Chapter is ready to visit your post. If you have interest in a visit contact Bob Williams at AAHFBOB@gmail.com.
