Post 300 hosts Air Force technical training students for Thanksgiving

San Antonio, TX

San Antonio Post 300 hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 40 Air Force technical training students, continuing a tradition that has spanned 20 years for the post near Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), Texas.
They were joined by 60 American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of American Legion members, who made the turkeys, added the sides and baked desserts.
Jack Caniglia, the Post 300 commander, said many of the airmen, assigned to the 343rd Training Squadron took extra pie and turkey home with them to their dormitories.
“We told them, the students, when they get to their permanent duty station to look and see if there is an American Legion close to their base and to join if they like it,” Caniglia said. “We also let them know what benefits there are of being a Legion member.”
Lackland is known as the “Gateway to the Air Force” as the home for Air Force basic training. Some airmen then continue to attend Air Force technical training such as the 343rd Training Squadron which assigns them to security forces duties throughout the world.

Airmen from the 343rd Training Squadron got "to go" boxes with extra pie and other Thanksgiving dinners.
