On December 9, 2023, American Legion Post 1, District 6 in Montana hosted the Deer Lodge Food Pantry to help veterans that need a little extra food for the holidays.

The event ran from 10 a.m. until the food ran out at 12:30 p.m. It was planned to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Deer Lodge Food Pantry served 103 veteran families, 223 people total. 30 people under 18, 68 people ages 18-59 and over 135 people over the age of 60. The event was well-received by the veterans and their families.

Over 1176.6 pounds of food was distributed at the event. Another event is planned in the spring by District 6. Time, place and post to be determined.
