Local American Legion renovation is receiving help from Air Force volunteers...

South Pittsburg, TN

The following may be a story of interest for your publication…

The building, American Legion Post 62, was built in 1925 and is an historic landmark in the small town of South Pittsburg, TN. This grand building has been used as a processing and departure point for WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans. The building has also been used as a school house, community center and various other events such as reunions, weddings, dance classes, Girl Scout/Brownie meetings. Over the years and for various reasons this historic landmark fell into severe disrepair.
As a result of the adoption by a team of young Air Force Civil Engineers from Dobbins ARB, Marietta, GA, who are working to “stop the bleeding and arrest further damage”, the community is now coming together to save this local treasure. We have numerous pictures to visually highlight our undertaking.
