Veterans Day luncheon

Toledo, OH

On Nov. 11, 2017, the Conn-Weissenberger Unit 587 American Legion Auxiliary hosted a Veterans Day luncheon.
The preparations for the luncheon began the day before, with 2 volunteers preparing the meal and 10 volunteers putting the Thank You Bags together for the veterans.
Veterans from the community and some area nursing homes were invited to participate. We had around 80 in attendance. The veterans were provided lunch which was made and served by volunteers and members of the Legion post. After lunch a member of the post gave a heartfelt talk about his service to our country.
Each veteran received a Thank You Bag with toiletry items, snacks and stationary items. They also received a lap quilt that was handmade by 2 Auxiliary members and 1 volunteer. Many donations were received from community businesses and community volunteers.
