The first day of basic at Fort Knox, April 3, 1964. There were wooden barracks with double bunks, only a couple of feet between them. We were really packed! After lights out, everyone just laid there down in the dump.
Out of nowhere a voice says, “Lord, I feel so unwanted. Lord, I feel so unloved.” Everyone just broke up laughing and it really broke the ice!
I never will forget it!
