In January 1954 while in Basic at Fort Knox, Ky., we failed an inspection of foot lockers, etc. So at 2 a.m. we were ordered out to Company Street. Uniforms were skivvies, boots and foot lockers at right shoulder arms, and we were forced to run around a football field! We never failed again.
