Post 1703 remembers and honors fallen heroes

1703 - Prince George , VA

Memorial Day, May 31, 2021, was an opportunity to honor our military fallen brothers and sisters of the numerous wars our citizenry participated in to protect our country. The Legionnaires of American Legion Post 1703 in Prince George, Va., was among those who honored fallen servicemen and servicewomen at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond. We established our post on Sept. 10, 2020. This commemorative event was our first opportunity as a post to keep our fallen heroes in remembrance since being established.

Post 1703 supports the Virginia War Memorial Foundation’s mission to "Honor Veterans, Preserve History, Educate Youth, and Inspire Patriotism" in everyone. The Walkway of Honor at the War Memorial encircles the Shrine of Memory, where guests may observe the James River. It is a solemn place where one may go for a moment of respite and reflection. We want to help ensure that we, and the great people of this country, never forget the services and sacrifices made to maintain the people’s freedoms.
