Post 21 represents veteran community at Ascendant LPGA Tournament

The Colony, TX

Women veterans of Holley-Riddle Post 21 represented the local veteran community as flag pin attendants at the final round of the Ascendant LPGA golf tournament, benefiting the Volunteers of America, on Oct. 8, 2023.
This nationally televised event on the NBC Sports Golf Channel is held annually at The Golf Clubs at The Tribute in The Colony, TX.
The post color guard presented the colors on the first tee box before the final round. The color guard comprised Patricia Zuczek and Mary Garcia on rifles, Dan Ivey and Chastity Hamer on the U.S. and Texas flags, respectively. The choir from The Colony High School gave a beautiful acapella rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" as the sun blessed everyone with a beautiful morning.
Over the next six hours, the women veterans tended the flag on Hole 18. Bruce Anderson, a U.S. Air Force veteran, was the captain in charge of Hole 18, and he ensured our women veterans were taken care of throughout the day. The LPGA players and caddies were very appreciative, shaking hands and thanking them for their service. Considering the LPGA comprises players from over 30 countries, the level of respect for the service and sacrifices of our U.S. military was very evident.
