Old recording finally released

Douglasville, GA

I am John Bogo and have been a member of Post 145 in Douglasville, GA for the past 28 years. I played drums on this recording made in 1969. It was re-engineered in the summer of 2023 by a Ukrainian sound technician as the Russian invasion was terrorizing his country and released worldwide on October 27, 2023.

In 1968-69, The Same As Last Week was a very popular band in Cleveland, Ohio, and at Case Western Reserve University. A crude reel-to-reel tape was recorded live on September 13, 1969, at a ΔͲΔ rush party on campus. Re-engineered by Ukrainian Oleg Yershov amid the war around him, the album was released worldwide on October 27, 2023.

Legionnaire John Bogo (Post 145, Douglasville, GA) is the drummer on this album. After graduating in 1971 from Case Western Reserve University with a BA in English, John enlisted in the U.S. Army and the Army Security Agency (ASA). He eventually was stationed in Berlin, West Germany as a Russian interpreter (1973-74). From 1975 to 1979, he taught English at Wickliffe Jr. High in Wickliffe, OH. John and his wife Nancy moved to Douglasville, GA, in 1979 where he taught English and Russian at Douglas County High School until he retired in 2010. John and Nancy have been married for 45 years and have four children. He has been a Legionnaire at Post 145 for 28 years.

Along the way, John earned a Russian diploma from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, in 1973, and an MA in Humanities from Central Michigan University in 2000. He currently works as an adjunct instructor teaching Humanities at West Georgia Technical College. John continues to play the same drums you hear on the recording. A band he was in, FM-109, played at many legion posts in the Douglasville and Atlanta, Georgia, area for over 25 years.
You can listen to The Same As Last Week on Spotify, iTunes or YouTube Music, among others.
