Legionnaires commemorate the Doolittle Raiders

Bryan, TX

On April 18, Commander Dale Hutchcraft and members of Earl Graham Post 159, in Bryan, Texas, joined with veterans around the world to toast the 82nd anniversary of the Doolittle Raiders. At 4:45 p.m., Commander Hutchcraft, Legionnaires TJ Robie, Jeffery Landskroener, Joe Levengood and Tom Marty, along with Air Force Assoc. Representative Debbie Landrey met at the post to view a live-streamed celebration of the raid led by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle.

The toast was offered, and the Legionnaires responded, "To those that have gone." Commander Hutchcraft said that it is important to remember those that have led the way. After only 132 days since the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Lt. Col. Doolittle and a select group of young aviators responded by doing something that no one had ever done before. Legionnaire Joe Levengood, a graduate of the Air Force Academy, stated that he was proud of his time in the service and how he reflects on what Lt. Col. did leading the way as the first bomber to catapult off the carrier that day.
