Ohio American Legion Riders prepare for 2022 Ohio Legacy Run

Avon Lake, OH

On Thursday, June 23, 2022, American Legion Riders from across Ohio will begin arriving at Post 211 in Avon Lake to begin an epic three-day journey around the state. During this journey we hope to bring awareness to the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Foundation and collect donations to provide help to children of soldiers killed since 9/11 and children of 50% or greater disabled veterans.
Leaving Friday morning, June 24, at 8 a.m. and continuing for three days, the run will travel through the Eastern, Central and Western regions of Ohio, stopping at selected American Legions that have volunteered their time and their post. We also have several stops planned at memorials to lay wreaths in remembrance of all the fallen veterans.
It is important to remember that participants do not have to complete the entire run. Participants can do as much or as little as they choose. We do ask, however, that if you’re not planning to join the run at the beginning but at one of the stops, still pre-register by mail so that packets can be ready when you arrive.
Go to www.OhioLegacy2022.com. There you can find all the information you need. Download the medical forms, waivers, general directions and see a list of hotels that have rooms blocked for your convenience. Please have the waivers completed UPON YOUR ARRIVAL at check-in.
If your post does not have an American Legion Rider program, you can still ride. As long as you’re a member of the American Legion Family, have a two- or three-wheeled motorcycle with at least 500cc displacement and can ride safely in a large group, you can participate.
Remember, whether your American Legion Family donates $100 or $1,000, money raised goes to help the children of the fallen and 50% disabled since 9/11. Funds raised will be presented to Ohio’s department commander at department headquarters in Delaware at the end of the ride, and will also be presented on the National Legacy Run in August 2022. Help us make Ohio proud and be a part, in any way you can, when riders from across the state come together to ride as one in support of this noble cause.
