Sons assist in vaccination efforts

Canandaigua, NY

Squadron 457 in Phelps, N.Y., and Squadron 282 in Lima, N.Y., combined efforts in early February to provide refreshments and snacks for the vaccination clinics started at the Canandaigua (N.Y.) VA and its Rochester (N.Y.) outpatient clinic. Learning of the almost 9,000 vaccines VA would be distributing over a number of weeks, the Sons made it a county effort, and invited the Auxiliary, Legion and Riders in the county to take part, making it an American Legion Family event. Under the guidance of SAL VAVS Representative Gabe Cinquegrana, the group put together a consortium to raise $2,000 to supply enough bottled water and individually wrapped snacks to supply the clinics for several weeks. The group continues to deliver more items as additional supplies are needed.
