Presentation of Service Appreciation Pin to Leland veteran

Post 68 - Leland, NC

Recently, members of John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 in Leland, N.C., presented a Service Appreciation Pin to a Leland veteran at the Wilmington Health Center. The event was attended by the veteran’s wife, who was very grateful for the ceremony honoring his service.
Members of the Cape Fear Fellow include eight members of Post 68 as well as other veterans from the Wilmington area who present the pin to honor veterans in the final stages of their lives. We ask which branch of the service they served in, and talk about their time in service if possible. Occasionally, some of the family members had never discussed their veteran’s service, which can make this a very emotional time for them, and us also.
Working with Lower Cape Fear Life Care, we present these veterans with the Veterans Service Flag Pin and certificates honoring them and thanking them for their dedication and service to the armed forces. These events are held at the Health Center in Wilmington as well as local nursing homes, or the veteran’s home if requested. The families and friends are present and are very grateful for the honor received from their fellow veterans.
Those of us doing this for our fellow brother and sister veterans are honored to be allowed to offer them this final thanks for their service and dedication to helping to protect and defend America.
