Fair outing for adults with special needs

Canton, GA

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have been coming to the Cherokee County Fairgrounds, hosted by Legion Post 45. Commander Rollans each year extends an invitation and has for many years, but this was the first return since 2020 due to COVID-19. Johnathan Francher, executive director of Empower Cherokee Services for Adults, said they love the fair and he hadn't seen them this excited in a long time.

Empower Cherokee received a unique VIP treatment compliment of the Po-Boy Car Club, Peachtree Rides and Post 45. The fair was opened early in the day, allowing each individual to ride everything at least once, then were served lunch, and the grand finale was popcorn for the ride back.
