'I loved my time in the Army'

Auburn, WA

I went into the Army in 1967 right out of high school. I chose the service because I wanted someone in my family to be in the service of our country during those hard times. My father was too young for World War I and too old for World War II, and my brother was turned down due to health problems. I chose the Army because I got a guarantee for X-ray school and that is the career I wanted. I loved my time in the Army and would have made it my career if I had gotten the promotion I was hoping for, but promotions were frozen. I decided to get out after 3 years and continue with the great health career the Army gave me. If I had it to do over again, I would do it in a minute.
