March as the one

Rutherford , NJ

Oct. 3, 2026, marked the second year Post 109 Commander Keith Whiteside marched for veteran suicide awareness and the American Legion’s #BeTheOne program.
The event was held at Overpeck Park as part of the Bergen County Out of the Darkness Walk hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The commander had #BeTheOne cards and stickers to hand out along the 3-mile march. Additionally, as a personal note, the march was in memory of Alfred M. Fiume, U.S, Army and Rutherford native, who succumbed to his wounds. Post 109 routinely partners with the foundation started in his name.
End the stigma.
Be the voice.
#BeTheOne
