SAN ANTONIO – (June 17, 2025) – The Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 Family, consisting of Legionnaires, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion (SAL), held their Joint Installations of Officers Ceremony at the post located at 3415 Martin Luther King Drive on the East Side.

District 20 Commander Eric Mayer installed Post Commander Amanda Parham and her elected officers, while Past Vice President Reba Bennett of Fred Brock Auxiliary Unit 828 installed Auxiliary President Pamela Money (third term) and her elected officers.

Additionally, Parham installed the post’s Board of Trustees and Squadron Commander Wendel Nance and his elected SAL members, respectfully.

Prior to the installations, the membership and guests had the opportunity to hear three high school seniors who attended Texas Boy State June 8– 13.

Parham, a retired U.S. Army nurse, is the second female commander of Fred Brock Post 828.

“I am humbled and grateful to accept the role of commander at Fred Brock Post 828. This position is not about authority - it’s about service,” said Parham. “Service to each of you, our fellow veterans, and to the greater mission of The American Legion.”

According to Parham, every member, past or present, deserves respect, and she will foster an inclusive environment where everyone’s voice matters and every contribution is valued.

“As commander, my focus this year will be on two key goals: growing our membership even more and expanding our presence in the community,” said Parham. “Together, we will work to welcome more veterans of all eras into our ranks, especially younger veterans who are seeking connection and purpose service. We will modernize our outreach, increase our visibility, and remind every veteran out there that they have a home here at this post.”

The mission of Post 828 is to enhance the well-being of San Antonio’s veterans, their families, the military and the community by its devotion to mutual helpfulness.

The post, which received a temporary charter as Post 420-A on Jan. 1, 1946, is named in honor of San Antonio native U.S. Army Sgt. Fred Brock of the 598th Field Artillery Battalion, 92nd Infantry Division, who died in the line of duty at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., on Aug. 18, 1943. On Aug. 23, 1950, Fred Brock Post No. 420-A was granted a full charter and was redesignated as Post 828.
