American Legion post honors World War II veteran for 80 continuous years of membership

On Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, members of Whitestown American Legion Post 1113 in Whitesboro, N.Y., were on hand at the Preswick Glen retirement community in New Hartford, N.Y., to honor World War II veteran Wesley Moore, 99, with a certificate honoring his 80th consecutive year as a member of Post 1113. The certificate was presented to Moore along with an 80-year membership pin by Post Commander Bill Haddow, accompanied by Post Chaplain Paul Hinkston, Post Historian Fred Martin and Service Officer DJ Moylan. In attendance for this presentation were many of Moore's community friends and neighbors who honored his service to his county and to his Legion post. Moore was a Navy veteran and served in Okinawa. On hand also were local news organizations to share his story.
