SAN ANTONIO – (Oct. 24, 2025) – Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 was honored during the inaugural D2 Pathfinders for Progress Community Awards held at The Event Ballroom.

The awards, hosted by D2 Strong featuring Reggie “Bruh Man” Ballard, honored outstanding individuals, organizations and groups who have made significant contributions to the advancement and betterment of their communities. Additionally, the awards were designed to recognize and celebrate those whose leadership, innovation and dedication have inspired progress and positive change within their neighborhoods and beyond.

Accepting the award on behalf of Post 828 was former District 2 Councilman and Post 828 Trustee Keith Toney, joined by fellow Trustee Michael Nathaniel and Sons of The American Legion Squadron 828 Adjutant Eddie Robinson.

In addition to receiving a commemorative award, recipients receive recognition through local media and social platforms highlighting their achievements and contributions.

Nominations for the D2 Pathfinders for Progress Community Awards are open each year to all members of the public. Nominees are evaluated based on their impact, innovation, leadership and commitment to the values of equity and inclusion. An independent selection committee reviews all submissions and selects awardees based on merit and demonstrated results.

Located in the heart of the city’s East Side, Fred Brock Post 828 stands as a living legacy of service and unity. Named after U.S. Army Technical Sgt. Fred Brock, a Buffalo Soldier who gave his life in 1943, the post carries forward a proud tradition - proving that all service counts.

From supporting local youth with Project Shoes and the Claude W. Black Community Center Back-to-School Jamboree to uplifting veterans through Buddy Checks and health drives, Post 828 transforms its mission into daily impact. With inclusive leadership and deep community roots, this modern Legion Family is redefining what it means to serve.
