American Legion Post 309 delivered a commanding presence at this year’s Helotes Cornyval Festival and PRCA Rodeo. Marching proudly through the crowded streets and setting up operations on the bustling festival grounds, post members actively engaged the local community. The four-day festival, which honors the city's rich agricultural heritage, takes its name from the Nahuatl word elotl (meaning "tender cob") and has stood as a beloved local tradition since 1965.
Throughout the event, Post 309 officers and members utilized their visible presence to foster deep fellowship and provide critical outreach. Stationed right where the action was, team members traded battlefield stories, offered localized transition support, promoted active American Legion advocacy programs and invited eligible servicemembers to join their ranks. The relentless outreach yielded results within over the course of the four-day celebration, Post 309 representatives personally connected with more than 200+ veterans spanning Helotes and the greater Bexar County area, significantly expanding the post's local support network and ensuring area heroes know they are never alone.
