On Friday, Sept. 11, John J. Morris Post 62 held a remembrance ceremony to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony began with the arrival of our Chapter 62 Riders.

The post color guard carried out their duties with honor and pride. A “Memorial” flag with names of individuals lost that day was carried out by Past Commander Bob Singer, ALR Director Bobby Gallo, Auxiliary President Geri Singer and SAL Commander Dan Pressler.

The honor guard proceeded to lower the flag to half-mast during the sounding of Taps.

The second portion of the ceremony was then moved inside for speeches in remembrance of that fateful day. Commander Noah McMullen talked about his experience and what happened to our country. Remaining speakers included Singer, Gallo and Pressler. Each speaker reflected on their memories of that day and how it affected their lives and the lives of so many. Nearly 3,000 people were killed that day.

During the speeches, each person in attendance had their own reflections on where they were when they heard the news. Here in Arizona, we were three hours behind the East Coast. Many of us had not even arrived at work when the first tower was hit. Twenty-five years later, we still remember where we were that day and what we were doing.

As we reflect on the remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001, WE WILL NOT FORGET!
