(City of Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma) - Following the March firestorm, the American Legion LeBron Post 58 Family attended the American Red Cross-coordinated MARC (Multi Agency Resource Center) to provide veteran support. We met eight veterans and a veteran's widow, who all suffered a total loss to their homes. The widow mentioned that her spouse's memorial flag burned in the fire; his urn also melted. Her story caught our attention and from this, the question was immediately asked of the Congresswoman's representative to coordinate new American flags to each of these veterans, including the widow.
Congresswoman Stephanie Bice and her representative, Marlon Banner, coordinated the flags to be flown over the nation's capital, and Post 58 facilitated the presentation of the flags and certificates certifying that they were flown there. Two days later, the news picked up our story shared on a community Facebook page at LeBron Post 58 American Legion and contacted us for an interview.
