SAN ANTONIO – (Aug. 21, 2025) – The act of donating elementary school supplies is more than just a simple gesture; it is a profound investment in the future of children, schools and society as a whole.
In a continuing effort to assist children in having every opportunity to learn, grow and thrive, Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 and its Auxiliary donated numerous schools supplies to six elementary schools on the city’s East Side.
On. Aug. 13, Auxiliary members, led by President Pamela Money, donated school supplies collected at the post to Herman Hirch Elementary School, Henry Carroll Elementary Schoo and Essence Preparatory Public School.
“Having the proper supplies is closely linked to academic success and emotional well-being,” said Money. “When children walk into a classroom equipped with the tools they need, the psychological boost is significant.”
On Aug. 15, Legionnaires, led by Post Chaplain Patricia Wimberly, donated school supplies to Smith Elementary, Ferdinand Herff Elementary and Booker T. Washington Elementary Schools. The supplies were granted through collaboration with H-E-B and Legionnaire Elvis Williams.
“Donating elementary school supplies is a practical and accessible way for individuals, businesses and organizations, such as The American Legion, to have a real impact,” said Wimberly. “It fosters a spirit of generosity, connection and shared responsibility for the next generation.”
The simple act of donating elementary school supplies reverberates far beyond the classroom - it is a cornerstone of educational equity, community building and the nurturing of future leaders.
