On March 29, 2026, War Memorial Post 30 in Camden, Maine, opened its doors for the 2nd annual Vietnam Veterans recognition luncheon. The post welcomed 15 Vietnam and era veterans in for lunch and a program. In total there were 34 vets and guests in attendance.
The program was presented by U.S. Navy (ret.) Master Chief Petty Officer Rodney Lynch on his time in country as a storekeeper and riverboat member. Rodney presented a slideshow of photos from his time in Vietnam.
Each Vietnam and era veteran was awarded a Certificate of Honor and a Post 30 challenge coin and was received with hearty applause and a loud chorus of welcome home.
The post also recognized a recently returned deployed U.S. Army military policeman, Sgt. Brian Gunn of the Maine Army Reserve. Gunn had been deployed to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was also awarded an honor certificate and challenge coin. He in return presented the post with a U.S. flag that had flown over the base on Veterans Day 2025 as well as a certificate stating it had flown there.
