The American Legion Western R.O.M.P. (Riders on Military Pride) is an annual multiday event for the Legion Riders (ALR) in the Western Region, featuring organized motorcycle rides (guided and self-guided), live music, vendors, raffles and social activities, all to support Legion programs, veterans and their families, with events like guided rides to scenic spots and local attractions.
On Oct. 8-11, McClellan-Parson Chapter 9, Florence, Ariz., hosted the event. Out of 12 states, we had Riders from Alaska (1 Chapter), Arizona (17 Chapters), Colorado (1 Chapter), Oregon (1 Chapter), and Washington (1 Chapter). We had great rides to Tortilla Flats, Superstition Harley-Davidson (where a Rider from Tombstone decided he needed a new bike), Local Legends Bar & Grill, Neon Sign Park, Bent Prop Saloon & Cookery and Casa Grande Ruins (where they had to deal with a haboob) and wait it out.
During Saturday evening events, each chapter in attendance had the opportunity to submit to host the 2027 Western R.O.M.P.; each post represented received one vote. Two posts placed bids to host the event, which went to Post 109, Corona del Tucson, Ariz. (TBD on dates).
We want to thank Chapter 9 for the fantastic job they did in hosting, and a shoutout to Jennifer Gilbert, ALR Chapter 9 director, for chairing the event. Shoutout from Chapter 24, Eric “Q” and Dee Quimby, stating, “Awesome job Jen and Crew. Rides were amazing. Rode with Dan on both days, he was amazing and had a great group!” Chapter 24 had 19 Riders at the event! AZALR Chairman Larry Tank thanked everyone for the great support in attending this year’s R.O.M.P., and hoped to see everyone next year.
