Post 168 of Vega, Texas, recently commissioned a mural in town to help commemorate the 100th celebration of Route 66 next year. Adjutant John Webb says this recreates signs the post ran for many years but had become weathered or missing. The sign is on the Old Roark Hardware building and sits on Old Route 66. Alfonso Garcia of Tulia, Texas, is the artist and has created numerous murals in Vega. The hardware was donated to Milburn Price Heritage Museum, which sits right behind the hardware store.
