In August the Iowa NG was deployed to the Middle East. Post 135 began collecting donations and cash to ship boxes. Due to support from the veterans originations, businesses and citizens, we have shipped 34 flat rate boxes to 3 TF. In addition they requested wool blankets so we ordered 30 for $300 and then had to pay another $300 to ship 10. The post office temp raised rates during the holiday season, and we knew this might put extra hardship on families wanting to ship packages. So we took money from our postage fund and gave it to our veteran officer and told him to give $20 to anyone who showed they mailed a package to any servicemember, regardless if stateside or overseas. This helps any servicemember get a package for the holiday.
