Singer-songwriter Woody Bradshaw has released an emotionally charged version of Leonard Cohen's iconic “Hallelujah,” offering a tribute to love, loss and strength. This deeply personal rendition began as a request from Tiffany Beardon, a devoted supporter, who asked Bradshaw to record the song for a close friend battling cancer. What started as a favor turned into something much more profound for the artist.
“Though the song is magnificent,” Bradshaw shares, “I was hesitant. It’s been covered by so many artists, and not all capture its true meaning.” Determined to do the song justice, Bradshaw approached the piece with an actor’s mindset, breaking down every lyric and metaphor to uncover the song’s deeper message.
Teaming up with renowned producer Stephan Oberhoff (Quincy Jones, Diana Ross), Bradshaw’s version of “Hallelujah” is haunting and cinematic. The duo’s process began with prayer, grounding their collaboration in spiritual clarity. The resulting track features rich instrumentation—baritone guitar, sweeping cello and distant tribal drums—that enhances Bradshaw’s soulful, intimate vocals.
“What started out as something for her, became something for everyone,” Bradshaw reflects. “And for me.”
Bradshaw’s rendition of “Hallelujah” transcends music, offering a moment of reverence and reflection. With its cinematic soundscape and raw emotion, the track feels both expansive and deeply personal, resonating with listeners on a universal level.
This release marks another chapter in Bradshaw’s impressive career, which spans his early days as an actor to his current role as a Nashville-based singer-songwriter. Known for his heartfelt storytelling, Bradshaw continues to create music that connects with listeners on a profound level. His new version of “Hallelujah” is a testament to the power of music to heal and inspire.
