I am a member of American Legion Post 911. This short story is a tribute to my older brother Sgt. William Moriarty. He was in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969. His last duty station was H&S Supply in Quantico, Va. (1968-1969). My brother was named after my father's brother, killed in action on Iwo Jima 3 Rd day over. His name was Cpl. William Thomas Moriarty. Ironically, both Marines died on the same day. I will always remember that when my brother came home from boot camp at Parris Island, I went to try his hat on. It had a perfect shine on the visor, and believe me, I was told directly not to touch it. My brother was a proud Marine and I will always remember the horrible reception they received when they came home. Anyone who served with Billy, please email me.
God Bless to Billy and Rest In Peace
A Honor Guard in Heaven
