Old Rebel Men

In honor of the semiquincentennial observance, I have released an acoustic piano-and-vocal narrative song titled "Old Rebel Men."

The track chronicles the major conflicts of U.S. history, from the Revolution to World War II, through actual childhood family memories, grandfathers serving in Army during World War I, and during World War II six uncles in the Army and my father, a Merchant Marine. It is a direct tribute to our veterans of our major wars, and a peaceful, musical defense of standing for our flag and national heritage; yet a passive protest of those who burn and trample the flag and kneel down for the national anthem.

The title reclaims the unyielding “Rebel” fighting spirit of the 1776 signers of the Declaration of Independence against authoritarianism - a trait inherited by America's military men and women evermore.

About the author:
The author is a professional composer, pianist and recording artist. As a boy, he grew up with his grandfather always near, who was a veteran of the European trench warfare of World War I. Also close by were six uncles who served during World War II - one awarded the Soldier's Medal - and his father, a Merchant Marine during World War II. As a boy, he was an avid reader of books on the American Civil War, visited the Gettysburg battlefield multiple times and also Antietam. Having stood before the mass graves at Gettysburg, he is forever imbued with the respect and awe for those fallen in all wars for the survival of the United States. Every day he remembers them, with gratitude to all of them. The author started making recordings as a teenager, then an emerging artist in the rockabilly genre, later earning a university degree in music composition and piano, recording jazz albums and compositions of other genres.
