At their June meeting, the John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) Sons of The American Legion presented two checks to charities. Each check was for $20,000! The squadron commander and Arizona detachment commander presented one to Melissa McQueen and the Children's Organ Transplant Association. They provide support for transplant-related expenses for patients and families. With this check it makes $42,000 donation over two years. The squadron commander and finance officer presented a check to Tom Sheets, executive director of Southwest Veterans Foundation. They provide for veterans and their families through higher-education scholarships, veteran suicide prevention initiatives and community grants. Kudos to our SAL team for supporting the community.
