A leader’s success is the result of the outstanding devotion and hard work of his/her people. One person cannot succeed alone. It takes trust and teamwork. That was evident on Sunday, June 28, 2026, as Felix Fussa Post 67, Rincón Inc., received four awards and recognition at the 2026 Department of Puerto Rico Annual Convention at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Juan Hotel & Casino. The post received the 2026 Cuchi Coll Award, the highest honor for outstanding services and accomplishments, exalting the four pillars of The American Legion: Americanism, National Security, Children & Youth and Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation.
Post 67 Commander Marilyn Meléndez Dykman received the 2026 William F. Lippitt Post Commander of the Year Award for her outstanding contributions and loyalty. Tania Soto, incoming commander (2027), received the Ramón “Moncho” Rivera Legionnaire of the Year Award for her unwavering hours dedicated, coordinating resources for veterans at the post, the Rincón community and adjacent cities. Soto also served as post treasurer from 2022-2026, a duty she took seriously by auditing and reorganizing books and ledgers for better accountability and tracking of incoming and outgoing funds. The awards for Post 67 culminated with a warm felt recognition for Awilda Candelaria, post adjutant since 2024. Her untiring dedication earned the post the recognition for completing 100% membership for the year 2025-2026. She created a call log to conduct welfare checks for veterans who had not returned to the post in years past. She also coordinated with the post Be the One team to coordinate veteran home visits to provide much-needed support. “Bravo Zulu” for a job well done!
Congratulations for an outstanding year!
