From July 15-Aug. 18, 2024, Henry K. Burtner American Legion Post 53 (Greensboro, N.C.) spearheaded a successful Back-to-School Supply Drive, demonstrating the power of community collaboration. Through generous donations from both the local community and post members, the drive amassed an estimated $400 worth of essential school supplies. Items ranging from glue sticks to Clorox wipes and Kleenex, and everything in between, were gathered to help students kick off the new school year fully equipped.
On Aug. 20, Post 53 proudly delivered these supplies to Southern Guilford Elementary School, ensuring that students would have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. This initiative is a testament to The American Legion's commitment to its four foundational pillars: Veterans Rehabilitation & Education, National Defense, Americanism, and Children & Youth. The supply drive falls under the Children & Youth pillar, reflecting the organization's dedication to nurturing the next generation and supporting their educational journey.
By rallying the community around this cause, Post 53 continues to embody the spirit of service and civic responsibility that defines The American Legion, making a meaningful impact on the lives of local children and their families.
