Typing in lieu of marching

In the fall of 1958, my brother and I went to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio for basic training. Our training instructor had checked out all his training aids from a central library but heard that he, along with all the other training instructors, would have to come up with their own sets. As soon as he found out that my brother and I, and one other recruit, could march, he left us in the barracks every day to type out his personal set of lesson plans. We did that for several weeks of the 13 weeks we were down there.
