Wreaths Across America Event

USS Tampa Post 5 - Tampa, FL

USS Tampa Post 5 would like to thank all the many sponsors and supporters for a successful Wreaths Across America Program. Because of all the people and sponsors, all 733 grave sites in the American Legion Veterans Cemetery had a wreath placed on them. Seven ceremonial wreaths were placed by active duty and veteran personnel for the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines; with a final Memorial wreath for the POW/MIA which was placed by Art Schwabe, Department of Florida Vice Commander. The Master of Ceremonies was Post 5 Commander Bill Hamblin and Post 5 Unit President Rosemary Hamblin. Tracy Montelone form Unit 148 lead the singing of "Silent Night" and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful". Boy Scout Troop 26 from New Port Richey placed the colors and the Marine Corps League lead by Walt Raystick Post 148 provided a 21-gun salute. After the playing of taps, all guests were asked to place a wreath on a grave site. Each wreath symbolizes "Honor, Teaching, and Remembrance" and will be on display until mid-January.
