TAMPA, Fla. – (Aug. 26, 2025) – Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Lindsey Neubauer, a member of William J. Bordelon American Legion Post 300 in San Antonio, was honored at the 106th American Legion National Convention with the Spirit of Service Award.

The award recognizes servicemembers who excel not only in their military duties but also through volunteer work in their communities.

Neubauer, a medical technician assigned to the 433rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, was recognized nationally for her dedication to her church and her ongoing service projects that strengthen the San Antonio community, also known as Military City USA.

“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to represent the Air Force Reserves, Post 300 and the State of Texas for The American Legion’s Spirit of Service Award,” said Neubauer, a graduate of Trinity University who joined the Reserve in 2020. “I come from a family with a long history of service that dates to the Civil War. I am blessed to be the one to honor their service and my family through this award. God has greatly blessed me.”

Post 300 Commander Ventura Tounsel, who traveled to Tampa to support Neubauer, said, “She shows what it truly means to serve - both in uniform and at home.”

“There are not enough words to express my deep gratitude to American Legion Post 300,” said Neubauer. “The leaders in my life have helped shape me into the leader I am today, and I am excited to learn from the post’s leadership. As a member, I will learn new ways to continue to make a difference in my community as well as for my veteran brothers and sisters.”

The American Legion offers several national-level security-related awards, including the National Firefighter of the Year Award, the National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award and the Spirit of Service Award.
