D.W. Segars Post 1228 in Hueytown, Ala., got a visit from Jamie Black of Black Family McDonald's on July 31, who brought a $4,500 check for the post.

The Hueytown McDonald's pledged to donate 10% of all sales Memorial Day weekend, May 22-25, to the post. About 25 members of the Post 1228 family enjoyed a breakfast outing during that weekend. In addition, post members held a flag raising to half-staff at the restaurant flagpole on Memorial Day.

In addition to Black, the city of Hueytown was represented by Council President Chuck Hurliman and Councilman Jay Jacks, as well as Debbie Busby Kiker, director of the Hueytown Chamber of Commerce.

Post 1228 Commander Eric Frye presented a plaque, designed by post members Ceasar and Carol Rodriguez of American Pride Trophies and Awards, to Black in appreciation of the support. Frye also gave Black a tour of the post building with current improvements and future plans.
