Memorial Day 2026

Post 400 - Topeka, KS

Topeka North Post 400, Department of Kansas, held its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the post on May 25 at 1000. Commander Charlie Griffin commenced the ceremony with a prayer by our chaplain and then the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. A wreath was placed by Past Commander Jackman and Auxiliary President Beatty. Our guest speaker today was Eric Rohleder, deputy director of the Kansas Office of Veterans Services. Rohleder spoke about the changes the Veterans Services office has undergone over the years and described the great increase in staff and services the office can now provide compared to days past. At the end of his presentation, he took a few questions and after the ceremony provided brochures and business cards and contact information for representatives of the office.
Past Commander Shaw provided an overview of the missing veteran table he had previously set up by the podium. Following those activities, the Post 400 honor guard provided a three-volley salute followed by taps. The ceremony was concluded with a prayer and thanks to all who attended and participated.
