War Memorial Post 30 (Camden, Maine) Memorial Day celebration

War Memorial Post 30 - Camden, ME

Mother Nature intervened and caused Memorial Day in the communities of Camden, Rockport and Lincolnville, Maine, to postpone the Memorial Day parades hosted by Legion Post 30.

Instead, Post 30 held an impromptu celebration and remembrance at the post and invited community friends to join them. The post provided speakers who were joined by the Troy Howard Middle School chorus, who sang the national anthem. The Lincolnville Community Band played appropriate music, and the event was capped off the Post 30 color guard rifle team firing volleys and the sounding of taps.

Everyone gathered after in the dining hall for a seafood and corn chowder luncheon made by Heatha Bergey, wife of Americanism Officer Scott Bergey.

After the event, several members of Post 30 travelled to all the memorials in the three towns and the waterfront, where wreaths were laid and tossed into the water to remember all who had sacrificed of themselves for us.

Even though we were rained out for parades, Post 30 still provided a program our veterans would be proud of in their memory.
