John J. Morris Post 62 celebrates Veterans Day

Peoria, AZ

As done across the nation on Nov. 11, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) celebrated Veterans Day. The Riders rolled in with the motorcycles to signal it was time to kick off the event. Kellis and Centennial High School students were live broadcasting the event. The opening prayer, and the honor guard came in. Auxiliary juniors led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. All four parts of the Legion Family made speeches honoring veterans. As outdoor events were winding down, the juniors once again led the crowd in singing "God Bless America." After the honor guard left there was a closing prayer. Back inside the building a huge potluck was on hand as a band prepared to entertain everyone for the afternoon. The juniors were at it again in handing out poppies. It was a fitting salute with hundreds in attendance during the event and day.
