On Nov. 10, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) hosted a celebration of life for Marine Lawrence "Larry" Johnson. An overflow crowd was on hand for the event. The honor guard presented colors and a burial flag to the family, then all went outside for a 21-gun salute. A great meal was provided as people shared their stories of Larry, ending with everyone going back outside to launch several balloons to the sky. It was Larry's wish to have the event on the Marine Corps' birthday. He was known for his smile and sense of humor along with supporting his favorite sports teams. He was the living proof of once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi!
