Peoria, AZ

On Aug. 1, John J. Morris Post 62 Peoria, Ariz.) honored Army veteran Orris Galland as the Veteran of the Month. Bronze Star recipient Galland, during World War II, helped administer first aid to one officer and 13 enlisted in Italy. Following his tour of duty he returned to Montana to farm. He had met his wife while on active duty and they had one son and three daughters. Once back home he was very active in the Cedar Creek Grazing Association, his Grace Lutheran Church, the VFW, The American Legion and the Good Sam Club as well as being on the board of the Buffalo Rapids Irrigation District. He enjoyed visiting people, model boats, traveling and camping. His daughter, Janette, was on hand to present his burial flag to fly over the post for the month of August. Proud to honor one from the Greatest Generation! We salute and honor Orris Galland for his service to our country.

Once again, a huge turnout from our American Legion Riders to show respect.
