On Thanksgiving, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) hosted a free Thanksgiving dinner. The post supplied the turkey, ham, potatoes, stuffing and more. Dessert and other dishes were mostly potluck-supplied. About 200 people came through the line and enjoyed the fellowship. This is the third year in a row with the post hosting the event, and by far the largest crowd. When you are doing something good the people just start coming up and volunteering to help in any way possible. A salute to everyone involved, and especially Ken and Jean Ellison for all the cooking in the kitchen; they put in about 12 hours from starting to cook to putting out the food and then cleanup. Several turkeys were donated by members of the post. Having this opportunity to support those without family in the area and allow them to sit and enjoy the holiday while making new friends is a highlight of the event. Happy Thanksgiving.
