Veteran-owned recipe blog

Bloomington, IL

My name is Jim Ostrenga. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1973 and retired in 2014.

I began my career as a boot in Great Lakes Illinois. From there I attended Storekeeper A and C school, served aboard USS Nashville LPD-13, USS Fulton AS-11, Navy Recruiting District Chicago, Navy Cargo Handling Battalions 7 and 9 as the AMMO/EXPLOSIVES Coordinator, Cargo Handler and Alpha Company LPO. In 2004-2005 I deployed with FWD Bravo to Kuwait ISO OIF/OEF/Operation Noble Eagle.

After my retirement, I tried my hand at various small businesses until I found my niche with website development and hosting, as well as a recipe and cooking blog where individuals subscribe to recipes as well as cooking lessons in person or online. As a retired veteran, I would like to share my recipes and blogs with all my shipmates along with current and retired veterans and their families.

I run the food blog Jim's Cabin Recipes. I hope my recipes inspire you to spend time preparing, creating, cooking and serving these meals to family, friends and that special someone in your life.

Please visit my recipe blog at www.jimscabinrecipes.com. If you run a small business and need web design and hosting, you can reach me at www.madsonconsulting.com.

To all my fellow veterans and to those currently serving, my gratitude and Thank You for Your Service.
