On June 9, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) hosted a breakfast for women veterans in the post. It was hosted by the past presidents of Unit 62 putting it together. Breakfast was provided along with gifts for the ladies in attendance. It was amazing; the main four branches - Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force - were represented by the lady veterans. Kathy Amery, past president, kicked the event off and was emcee. Post 62 Commander Bob Singer welcomed everyone and gave a great speech. Retired USAF Master Sgt. DeDe Dexter was the keynote speaker and highlighted some of the many things all the different families in a post do for veterans and their community. She was loudly applauded at the conclusion of her speech. There was also another speaker on women support groups. On Friday night, June 12, there will be a full ceremony at the 7 p.m. toast. This event was a more casual get-to-know-you event. A salute to all women veterans!
