The American Legion Auxiliary’s “Service to Veterans” group at John D. Wibby Unit 86 in Overgaard, Ariz., drove to Show Low, Ariz., on June 10 to celebrate the birthdays of two veterans at an assisted living facility. They brought a special coin for the birthday veterans along with dozens of cupcakes and cases of Girl Scout cookies so each veteran in the facility could have a box of their favorite cookie, with plenty of boxes left over so cookies could be distributed to all residents in the coming weeks. This was just one of the regular visits the Auxiliary makes here, which lets the veterans know they are valued and remembered by this post. All veterans were personally visited, conversations and laughs were shared, and a great time was had by all.
