AUSTIN, Texas – (July 11, 2026) – During the 107th Annual Convention of the American Legion Department of Texas held at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, Department Commander Richard Huntley recognized the oldest (99) and youngest (31) Legionnaires present.
The oldest was World War II veteran Martin Rodriguez of Audie L. Murphy American Legion Post 336 in San Antonio, and the youngest was Joseph Mata of Northline Post 586 in Houston.
Since its founding in 1919, The American Legion has been a key advocate for veterans’ benefits, children and youth, patriotic American values, a strong national defense, and quality-of-life issues for those serving in today’s armed forces.
