Scouting America held a banquet Oct. 13 that hosted former Secretary of the Air Force Barbara M. Barrett as the keynote speaker. Prior to being secretary, she had been ambassador to Finland. She has BA, MA and JD degrees from Arizona State University. Attending the event was American Legion Department of Arizona Commander Ross Bergstresser. Bergstresser was a career veteran in the Air Force. Shortly after 9/11, Barrett was visiting Saudi Arabia. Her security detail included Bergstresser! Following the event, he went up to her to see if she remembered him. A warm reunion of memories from days gone by followed. The saying "it's a small world" rang true - 25 years after they were in Saudi Arabia together, they ended up at the same function at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix!
